Critical Thinking through Assumptions and Outcomes

Faculty Advisor: Michael Jarcho

Course: PSYC400

Abstract: Critical thinking is considered a valuable skill as it affects our ability to make decisions on a daily basis. In this study, the critical thinking of Siena undergraduate students will be investigated through a short assessment based on identifying
information from a text and indicating whether participants identify with certain real-world situations. These two dimensions are present in recognized measures of critical thinking like the Watson-Glaser Test. However, the idea of investigating real-world situations gives a better idea of one’s ability to make good decisions.
